SnapGene and PyMOL for MIT

April 3, 2015

IS&T has recently announced the availability of two pieces of BE relevant software, SnapGene and PyMOL.

SnapGene is molecular biology software for editing, annotating and sharing plasmid maps. SnapGene allows users to easily plan and simulate DNA manipulations, visualize reading frames and primer binding sites, automatically record the steps in a cloning project and share annotated sequence files with other researchers.

PyMOL is a powerful and comprehensive Python-enhanced molecular visualization system which enables users to view 3D molecular structures, render figures artistically and animate molecules dynamically.

Both are available to Faculty, staff and students from the IS&T Software Grid along with other BE relevant software Solidworks, MATLAB, Mathematica, and ChemBioDraw.
