Renewing certificates and new Duo authentication

July 27, 2015

MIT personal web certificates will are set to expire on July 31, 2015 and will require renewal. Renewal of personal web certificates is not automatic. To ensure continued access to MIT's secure web applications, such as Atlas, Benefits, SAPweb, WebSIS, and software downloads, please plan to renew before the end of July.

How to Renew Your Certificate

NOTE: You May Be Required to Change Your Password as part of the renewal process if you have not changed it in over a year.

You will need to obtain a new certificate for each browser on each machine you use. You can obtain certificates in two ways:

1) Download the updated CertAid app from the IS&T Software Grid - this works for Safari, Chrome and Internet Explorer only

2) Install certificates manually for any browser at: https://ca.mit.edu/

Duo Two Factor Authentication

This year, for enhanced security and user protection, IS&T has added Duo Authentication as an optional step in the certificate renewal process. Duo is a two-factor authentication system that leverages landlines, Smartphones and other mobile devices as an additional layer of security. All staff will be required to use Duo Authentication for Touchstone and web services authenticated through Touchstone (such as Atlas, Barton, and Stellar) by September 30, 2015.

For more information about Duo, please see the Memo to the MIT community

Cotact BE-IT if you have any questions about renewing your certificate or Duo Authentication.
